But why should one or the society be moral? This question and its similar variants make us view happiness and morality in a number of ways, the individual and societal perspective, the I and other perspectives. Most communities in the world value morality and often relate it happiness explaining the reason why the topics of morality and happiness are a major concern to many not only to philosophy but also the society in general. I recommend reading this with utmost attention and really debating with yourself about how the story unfolds.Morality and happiness are among the many issues that have troubled moral philosophers and scholars over the years. The imagery is so vivid and artistically written, it’s like holding the paintbrush and tracing paper with the author’s pallette at your disposal.

The author makes it as simple as possible for readers to grasp what she is trying to say. However, the emotions I felt stay strong and are communicated through this review. I had so many thoughts that I spoke out loud while reading but did not pen them down in time. But all this joy comes at the price of what really makes you human. People live in harmony and experience joy at every moment. The author paints a picture of a place, a town/city where everybody is happy.I was stunned! It is smart, creative and yet so simple. The author begins by very interestingly explaining the meaning behind ‘Omelas’.Remember that question- 5 people on a train track v/s 1 person…whom will you save? The Ones Who Walk Away From Omelas asks something similar.I think Kim Najoon also recommended this book at one point.

I chose this book after reading a lot of theories under BTS’s music video titled Spring Day. Sneak Peek: The happiness of Omelas comes at the cost of a price, a choice.
